Ten Things I Hate About You

IMDB: "A pretty, popular teenager can't go out on a date until her ill-tempered older sister does."

Do you have to see this movie at least once in your life? Yes. Yes! I am sorry. It's mandatory viewing! If you cannot quote at least one line, we cannot be friends.

The movie is based on Shakespeare's 'The Taming of the Shrew', but wheter or not you like the movie for the storyline or because of Heath Ledger, really does not matter. It's a 90s staple movie that should be in every milinials movie library or at least pinned as one of your favourites on Netflix.

If you've never seen it, go watch it now. And then start an angry girl punk band.

Pretty in Pink

IMDB: "A poor girl must choose between the affections of dating her childhood sweetheart or a rich but sensitive playboy."

I actually think IMDB's description of this movie is way off? I don't think Andie is ever interested in Duckie... Anyhow, as with every John Hughes movie, I recommend googling the content warnings first! But if you like Molly Ringwald and 80s teen-love movies, this one should be on your to-watch-list.

Heathers

IMDB: "In order to get out of the snobby clique that is destroying her good-girl reputation, an intelligent teen teams up with a dark sociopath in a plot to kill the cool kids."

Aaah, a young Christian Slater. And of course, a young Wyona Rider. This movie needs a few content warnings as well (maybe I should stop making movie lists :/), because the main subject is death by suicide. I think the most interesting thing about this movie is (aside from C.S.) it's critique on social hierarchy in high school (and I guess the world).

The Love Witch

Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain

Murder, She Said

Broken Arrow

Videodrome

IMDB: "A programmer at a TV station that specializes in adult entertainment searches for the producers of dangerous and bizarre broadcast."

This is a film about adult movies (there's an R-rated version and an unrated version) so OBVIOUSLY this one needs A LOt of content warnings (to begin with: n*d*ty, BDSM, (s*xual) violence, gore, death by suicide, the list goes on and on). However, I think do it poses some interesting questions about (social) media and the dangers of the adult entertainment industry in today's society (eventhough it was made in the 80s), and of course... it has Deborah Harry in it. Honestly, it's a wild ride and if you like gory fx and a lot of what-the-heck-moments, it's worth a watch.
